Liverpool play their game in hand at West Ham on Wednesday and it's another opportunity to put more psychological pressure on Manchester City.

West Ham have had a couple of bad results recently after a decent start when David Moyes initially came back in but we dropped two points at the London Stadium this time last year and they will no doubt try and make it difficult for us by putting everyone behind the ball.

Liverpool may have to be patient and find a little bit of genius or wait for a mistake, the first goal can be so important in games like these.

The main problem Jurgen Klopp has is who will replace Sadio Mane now that he's injured.

For me, Minamino looks the perfect fit but there's always the Divock Origi option as well.

Whichever way he goes, it's another great chance for those on the fringes of the team to show what they can do and give the boss a bit more to think about and it's really important they do that.

We know the team Klopp is likely to start with as those who were rested for Shrewsbury come back in and we just have to make sure we carry on doing all the things which have got us into this position.

We have had it over Manchester City psychologically all season with the way we have been bouncing back and scoring late goals and it does seem to have got to them a bit.

With City not playing until Sunday afternoon when they travel to Tottenham, Liverpool could go 22 points clear with a win over Southampton at Anfield on Saturday.

The Saints have been on a really good run of late and will come and have a go. Danny Ings has been on fire and I'm sure he'll get a warm welcome as he was a fans' favourite during his time at the club.

It should be a really good game but the manager and the players have been so single-minded and will not allow any distractions like potential points gaps to take their eyes off the main prize.

It's been that mantra of 'one game at a time' right through the season so they will have total focus on West Ham and West Ham only and that's the way it has to be.

* It was great to see Tranmere Rovers making national headlines again with their superb extra time win over Watford and then of course the big fourth round tie against Manchester United at Prenton Park.

Sadly there was no upset this time even though Rovers looked like they had United rattled a bit in the first ten minutes when they were getting a fair bit of joy down the left flank.

After such a good start, it was just a pity the first goal went in the way it did and was followed by two more so quickly.

It seemed to have an effect on them and they didn't defend as well as they could have done in many ways but it also one of them where everything United seemed to hit went in and you get those games sometimes.

The fantastic support for Tranmere inside the ground right throughout the match said everything about how far Rovers have come as a club in a short space of time.

This run has earned the club a nice few bob and hopefully Micky can use that to get a player or two to help them get on a run and stay in the division which is far and away the most important thing.
