LUCKNOW: If you are a secondary teacher in government-aided school and your spouse is a government servant in Uttar Pradesh, and both of you are posted in different districts, you can now rejoice. The newly introduced UP government's teacher transfer policy has made arrangements to shift such people to one districts, making their lives easy. The teacher transfer policy will benefit over 50,000 teachers in the state.

The online applications for this year will be opened from March 1 till March 15. With the policy in place, principals, teachers seeking transfer will no more have to knock doors of their management to get a no-objection certificate.
Aimed at ensuring equitable, demand based distribution of teachers to protect academic interest of students and optimise job satisfaction amongst its employees in a fair and transparent manner, the policy is based on a set of parameters including age, gender, and performance.
Decision of allotment to a vacancy is based on a composite score of points earned by a teacher. Female teachers who are either widow, divorced, or separated will be given preference. Male teachers, who are widower (who lost his wife and not re-married) and has one or more minor children and/or unmarried daughters, too will be given extra weightage.
Principal/teachers who have completed 58 years of age as on March 31 (of the year of transfer) will be given additional points, the policy states.
The transfer policy in UP also takes care of the differently-abled. Teachers having 40%-60% disability will get 10 points while those with above 60% and less than 80% disability will get 15 points. All such persons with above 80% disability will be given 20 points. Those teachers, be it men or women, who have received state/national level awards will also be given preference.
In addition, 10 extra points will be given to those teachers who have seen above 80% results in their subjects in previous years. The policy bars transfer from eight aspirational districts - Sonbhadra, Chandauli, Bahraich, Shravasti, Balrampur, Fatehpur, Chitrakoot, and Siddharthnagar.
