LUCKNOW: Union textile minister and Amethi MP Smriti Irani on Thursday said the parties which lost 2019 Lok Sabha elections are trying to break the country’s unity in the garb of supporting the anti-citizenship law protest in Delhi’s Shaheen Bagh.
Irani, who was on a day’s visit to her constituency Amethi, specially targeted the Aam Adami Party and accused it of supporting Shaheen Bagh protest where anti-national slogans are being raised.

“Ek aakrosh hai poore desh mein ki AAP aur baki wo rajnaitik dal jo 2019 ka chunav nahi jeet paye desh ko todne ki baaton ka samarthan kar rahe hain. Janata ke beech mein desh virodhi naare de rahe hain (There is resentment across the country against AAP and other political outfits who lost 2019 Lok Sabha elections and are now raising slogans to divide the country),” she said
The minister added that AAP leader Manish Sisodia has already given support to Shaheen Bagh protest.
“Jo Shaheen Bagh ki aad mein apni rajniti kar rahe hain aur desh virodhi naare de rahe hain, kya unki rajniti ka sthar itna gir gaya ki ab virodhi dal desh ko baatne ki baat kar rahe hain...Jinnah wali Azadi ki baat kar hare hain (Those doing politics in the garb of Shaheen Bagh have stooped so low that they are now trying to break the country by seeking its partition like Jinnah),” she said.
Later in the day Irani addressed a public meeting during Ganga Yatra at Kalakankar in Pratapgarh where she said a true Indian will not stage a sit-in at Shaheen Bagh and speak of breaking the country. “I will pray to Ganga maiyya for better sense among people who depend on this land (India) for survival but praise others,” she said.
