Students can now take admission to online degree-level courses slated to be offered by Indian Institute of Management-Lucknow, Banaras Hindu University and a dozen other prominent educational institutes of the state.

LUCKNOW: Students can now take admission to online degree-level courses slated to be offered by Indian Institute of Management-Lucknow, Banaras Hindu University and a dozen other prominent educational institutes of the state.
Following the budgetary announcement by Union finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman, online courses will be offered by educational institutes ranked among top 100 by the National Institutional Ranking Framework(NIRF).

The provision would help poor students study management, pharmacy, law, architecture, medicine and other professional courses.
Vice chancellor of RML Awadh University Manoj Dixit said, "UGC was working on these online courses for several months. The provision was announced after completion of the modalities. Till now, students had the option of studying in open universities or through regular classes but the budgetary provision has opened a new avenue for them."
Deputy chief minister Dinesh Sharma said, "The decision has been taken to help students who cannot opt for professional and specialised courses in prominent universities or colleges due to financial constraints. This is another step towards shaping the best of minds from our colleges and universities."
According to recent rankings issued by the ministry of human resource development, five universities and colleges of the state feature among the top 100 in the country as ranked by National Institutional Ranking Framework .
