Two youths found murdered in Begusarai, woman raped in Patna

Two people were killed, a married woman was raped and a trader was shot at and critically injured in three separate incidents in the state in the last 24 hours.

PATNA: Two people were killed, a married woman was raped and a trader was shot at and critically injured in three separate incidents in the state in the last 24 hours. While the double murder rocked Begusarai, the woman was raped in Patna rural and the trader was attacked in Saran district.
Reports reaching the police headquarters said two youths were found murdered at an isolated place under the Balia police station area in Begusarai district on Sunday.
The throats of both the deceased were slit with a sharp-edged weapon. The unidentified bodies were sent to the sadar hospital at Begusarai for autopsy.
Agitated over the double murder, a group of locals blocked the NH-31 near Janipur and disrupted vehicular traffic for over four hours. The protesters were demanding immediate arrest of the culprits and check on crime in the district. The roadblock was lifted and traffic restored after the intervention of senior police officers.
Begusarai ASP Anjani Kumar said efforts were on to identify the two deceased. Prima facie the incident appeared to be a fallout of love affair. "We have shared detailed information related to be recovery of the two bodies with the SHOs of adjoining polices stations," the ASP said, adding the village chowkidars have also been alerted.
In Saran district, three motorcycle-borne criminals shot at and critically injured a 30-year-old trader, Saroj Rai, near Mastichak under the Dariyapur police station area late on Saturday evening. The injured was rushed to the primary health centre (PHC) at Parsa from where he was referred to PMCH where his condition is stated to be critical.
The incident took place when Saroj was returning home at Harnna village after closing his departmental store at Mastichak on his motorbike. Police said the reason behind the murderous attack on the businessman is yet to be ascertained. An FIR was lodged with Dariyapur police station in connection with the incident.

In another incident, a married woman was raped by her relative under the Janipur police station area in rural Patna on Saturday evening.
The accused, Ranjan Kumar Thakur, was arrested on Sunday and produced before the court, which remanded him in judicial custody for 14 days.
In yet another incident, two masked criminals barged into a medicine shop at Changar turning under the Ram Krishna Nagar police station area in Patna and looted Rs 20,000 in cash from the cash counter. Amit Kumar and Mukesh Kumar, who were present in the shop, told the police that the criminals had entered the shop posing as customers.
