GHIAL to operate Bidar airport from this month
Hyderabad: Beginning this month, GMR Hyderabad International Airport Ltd (GHIAL) will “commission, operationalise and maintain” the civilian enclave at Bidar airport in Karnataka, a release by GHIAL on Monday stated. Initially, the airport will handle one daily flight between Bidar and Bengaluru.
GHIAL authorities said the concession agreement, to manage Bidar airport, has been signed under the UDAN (Ude Desh Ka Aam Nagrik) scheme and operations will commence in the first week of February.

“The operationalisation of Bidar Airport is a testimony to our commitment to support the Government of India’s flagship regional connectivity Scheme. We are very pleased to partner with the Government of Karnataka to support efforts for all-round development of Bidar and nearby regions and we are confident that the start of commercial operations will provide a boost to the local economy through better connectivity for the people of Bidar and the large number of tourists who visit the area,” said S G K Kishore, executive director (South, GMR Airports) and CEO, GHIAL.
