As part of this exercise, Board’s water wing officials on Monday held a meeting with Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) to chalk out proposals for increasing water supply to Cantonment areas.

Currently, the water board is supplying 50 lakh gallons of water per day (LGPD) against an assured quantity of 60 LGPD, under ‘Bulk’ category. The SCB, in turn, is supplying water to its residents through its own service reservoirs and water supply network. Certain areas in Cantonment are getting alternate day water supply while some areas get supply three and four days a week.
“Though we are managing water supply with present quantity, but with summer in view, we have asked the water board to increase at least nine LGPD to avoid inconvenience to the consumers,” a source in the SCB water wing told TOI.

Apart from the regular potable water, the Cantonment Board is also supplying water through nine tankers and will increase them by five tankers based on demand, the source said.
Regarding booking of tankers, we are sending tankers within 24 hours from the date of booking. In fact, tanker demand may double when summer reaches peak. We will take all measures to ensure to proper number of tankers are sent to needy consumers, said sources.
A senior water wing official said, “There are 850 power bores, and all wells have been recharged with ground water in Cantonment area following bountiful rains. We are anticipating that water crisis may be overcome this summer.
