LUCKNOW: A 30-year-old man was arrested in Sitapur for the murder of his 11-year-old nephew late on Monday night. The mutilated body of the victim, Armaan, was recovered in thickets in Rampur Mathura area on January 13. The accused, Bablu, was unhappy over his sister’s affair with a youth. He wanted to implicate the youth for the murder of Armaan, who was his distant relative, police said.
According to Armaan’s father Tauseef, the boy had left home for the market on January 7 but did not return.
Tauseef had tried to get a missing complaint registered but was allegedly dismissed by police. On January 13, Armaan’s mutilated body was recovered in a gunny bag a few kilometres from his house. Tauseef then named Bablu in an FIR for murder. Mehmoodabad CO Akhand Pratap Singh told TOI that Bablu had confessed to hatching a plan to implicate his sister’s lover. He said he murdered Armaan because he would bring chocolates, toffees and love letters from the youth for his sister.
“I had spotted Armaan chatting with the youth and keeping a letter inside his pocket to be given to my sister,” said Bablu. Singh said Bablu had chopped the hands and legs of Armaan before stuffing the body in a gunny bag and dumping it in thickets. Bablu not only wanted to murder Armaan but also wanted to frame Bablu by terming him a paedophile. Armaan’s autopsy report revealed he died of a slit throat.
