SASARAM: Criminals shot dead the cleaner and seriously injured the driver of an empty truck on Dinara–Dehri state highway near Mogara village under Natwar police station in Rohtas district late Tuesday night. The deceased was identified as Sunil Yadav (25) from Azamgarh.
The driver, who received four bullet injuries, was battling for his life in a private nursing home at Bikramganj.
Bikramganj DSP Raj Kumar Singh said the gang involved in the crime has been identified and raids were on to nab them.

Police sources said the incident happened when the truck was on its way to Dehri-on-Sone for loading sand. The driver, identified as Vidya Sagar Yadav (35), smelt foul play and accelerated the speed of the truck. Then the criminals started firing and the bullets hit the driver and cleaner. The driver lost control of the truck which dashed against a tree.
Incidentally, this is the second such attack on trucks coming from neighbouring Uttar Pradesh (UP) in the last three months. In the previous incident, a cleaner of a sand-laden truck was shot dead on Pali road under Dehri-on-Sone police station area in Rohtas district on November 10 after he refused to pay extortion at a government checkpost.
Locals claimed that there has been a spurt in different types of crime in Rohtas district. Police are still clueless in Rs5 lakh loot case in Sasaram even after four days of the incident. The criminals had looted the cash from an automobile spare parts trader near Sasaram court on Saturday evening.
