Bihar: 2 killed by bulls in Siwan, 1 shot in Supaul

Two farmers were killed by blue bulls in separate incidents in Siwan district since Thursday evening. A 55-year-old farmer, Ram Shankar Rai, was killed by a blue bull at Sohawan Hata village under Barharia police station early Friday morning when he had gone to answer nature’s call.

PATNA: Two farmers were killed by blue bulls in separate incidents in Siwan district since Thursday evening. A 55-year-old farmer, Ram Shankar Rai, was killed by a blue bull at Sohawan Hata village under Barharia police station early Friday morning when he had gone to answer nature’s call. In a similar incident, one Sitaram Prasad was killed by another blue bull at Mahuari village under Siwan Mufassil police station on Thursday evening.
Both the bodies were handed over to the respective families after postmortem.
Siwan SDPO Jitendra Pandey said local police have received complaints about blue bulls menace in different parts of the district. “We have alerted the forest department officials,” he said.
In Supaul, 31-year-old Manjesh Yadav was shot dead by a group of armed men on the outskirts of Brahmapur village under Sadar police station around Thursday midnight. The deceased was a resident of Nauhatta Chowk in neighbouring Saharsa district. His elder brother Ranjeet Rai lodged an FIR against six people. Ranjeet told the police that Sunit Kumar along with his associates killed Manjesh following a dispute over a plot of land at Brahmapur.
Supaul Sadar SDPO Vidyasagar said Sunit’s motorbike was recovered from the site of occurrence on Friday morning. “Raids are on to nab the accused,” the SDPO said on Friday.
In Saran, the police recovered the body of six-year-old Shashi Kishan Kumar from Tara Amnaur village under Maker police station on Friday morning. Police said the deceased had gone missing while playing outside his residence a week ago. A woman has been detained for interrogation. The suspect is stated to have threatened the deceased’s family of dire consequences after a brawl over some trivial issue. The victim’s father, Jagannath Pandit, apprehended the involvement of his neighbour in kidnapping and subsequent murder of his son.

In yet another incident, one Nawal Kumar Ravidas, husband of a former mukhiya Sabuja Devi of Avgila Chaurasa panchayat, was killed with a sharp-edged weapon late Thursday night. The police recovered the body from a roadside ditch on the outskirts of Chaurasa under Chandradip police station area.
Agitated over the killing, a group of Sabuja’s supporters blocked Sikandara-Nawada road and paralysed vehicular traffic for over four hours on Friday. The road blockade was lifted after the intervention of senior police officers. Nawal’s daughter Anjani Kumari blamed a trader, Anil Sao, for the murder of her father. “Anil Sao, a wholesale cement dealer, had threatened my father of dire consequences recently,” she told the police. The police have, however, failed to make any breakthrough in the case.
In Muzaffarpur, two youths were nearly lynched by a mob when they were escaping after looting Rs1 lakh from a petrol pump on Thursday. The injured, Sudhanshu Kumar and Abhijit Kumar, stated to be residents of Chandrahia and Gavsara villages, respectively, have been admitted to the SKMCH where their condition was stated to be critical.
