Girl rescued, three held in Begusarai
BEGUSARAI: A 15-year-old girl from Patna was freed from the clutches of a gang of sex racketeers after a police team led by Begusarai DSP (headquarters) Kundan Kumar raided a house in Bakhri red-light area under Bakhri police station in the district on Saturday evening. After conducting medical examination, the girl has been sent for counselling, the police said.

According to the DSP (HQ), the raid was conducted on information provided by a Delhi-based NGO that the girl had been forcibly kept there.
Bakhri police station SHO Mukesh Kumar Pawan said members of the NGO were present during the raid. The police team also arrested three persons from whose house the girl was recovered. Those arrested were identified as Mantun Nut, Sunita Devi and Mira Devi.
Sources said the girl told police that she was brought to Begusarai from Patna several years ago by one Punam Devi, another wife of Mukesh Nut, and was forced into the flesh trade. The local police conducted the raid following information provided by the NGO that the gang was running a sex racket, involving minor girls.
