West Bengal: Two Jalpaiguri men admitted to NBMCH

The patients who have returned from Bangkok have been identified as Animesh Chandra Das and Biswajit Banik.While Das has been discharged after his samples tested negative, Banik's reports are still to arrive from NICED.

KOLKATA: While no flyer with suspected coronavirus symptoms were detained at Kolkata airport on Friday, two residents of Jalpaiguri district, who were suffering from fever after their return from Bangkok a few days back, have been admitted to the isolation ward of North Bengal Medical College and Hospital. Another person who returned from Hong Kong was admitted on Friday.

The patients who have returned from Bangkok have been identified as Animesh Chandra Das and Biswajit Banik. While Das has been discharged after his samples tested negative, Banik's reports are still to arrive from NICED.
"We had sent nasopharyngeal swab and blood samples to NICED in Kolkata and the reports of Das are negative. We discharged him on Friday. We have sent the samples of other two patients to NICED." said NBMCH superintendent Kaushik Samajdar.
Screening of passengers, though, continue at Kolkata airport.
