Forest dept lens on Mancherial tiger
Hyderabad: Following a tiger attack on a cattle-grazer in Neelwai range of Mancherial’s Chennur forest division on Friday, the forest department is closely monitoring the movement of the big cat. They are currently keeping a close eye on villages in the tiger corridor. Forest officials said that they had identified the big cat within hours after the attack, however, have decided not to reveal its identity.

“The tiger has been identified and we are taking all necessary steps to prevent such incidents in future. It was a random attack and it does not look like the tiger attacked this man intentionally. There is no chance that he could have survived otherwise,” said Mancherial district forest officer Shivani Dogra adding that K4, the tigress with a wire snare around its abdomen is not responsible for the attack.
“We do not want to reveal the identity of the tiger because that might have consequences and prove to be dangerous for the big cats surviving in these forests. The attack was not made by K4. There are quite a few tigers moving in this area and we are constantly monitoring their movement,” Dogra said.
Villagers have been asked not to venture out of the villages alone, especially during early morning or in the evening as that would be the time when these big cats are mostly active.
