Two sailings tonight between the mainland and the Isle of Arran have been cancelled, CalMac has confirmed.

Disruption on the main Ardrossan to Brodick continues this week and will affect passengers hoping to travel this evening.

The 7.20pm service from Brodick and 8.15pm sailing out of Ardrossan have both been cancelled due to poor weather and what the ferry operator describes as the failure of a navigational aid.

A knock-on effect means the 7am sailing from Ardrossan to Brodick on Tuesday morning has also been cancelled.

In a statement, the company said: "All remaining sailings are on yellow alert and are liable to disruption.

"Please be advised that due to a small technical issue, which has now been resolved on board, MV Caledonian Isles is currently running 40minutes late.

"Due to a combination of weather and the failure of a navigational aid at Ardrossan, the 7.20pm from Brodick and the additional 8.15pm from Ardrossan planned for this evening have both been cancelled.

"In addition, no timber or livestock will be carried regardless of vehicle type until further notice due to weather and sea state."

Storms Ciara and Dennis, as well as a technical failure on the MV Caledonian Isles boat, have had a huge impact on sailings between Arran and the mainland over the last week.

Meanwhile, 'be aware' warnings have been applied to the routes between Lochranza in the north of Arran and Tarbert, Argyll & Bute and Largs and Millport.
