Duo held for smuggling of arms in UP's Chandauli
Pistols seized by GRP
VARANASI: Government Railway Police (GRP), Pt Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Junction in Chandauli district, caught two members of an arms smuggling gang and recovered 24 pistols and 48 magazines on Sunday.
The pistols, which are suspected to be factory made and contained mark of 'Made in US' were being sent to Moradabad from Hazaribagh in Jharkhand. On sale of each pistol this gang earns a profit of over Rs 35,000. Teams of IB and anti-terror squad also interrogated the arrested men while GRP were preparing to send a team to Hazaribagh and Bokaro in search of the gang's kingpin.

Ahead of producing the arrested men before Chandauli court and sending to jail on Monday, inspector GRP - DDU Junction, RK Singh said that during routine checking drive on Sunday afternoon his team members noticed two suspicious youths with three heavy backpacks at platform 2/3. When the cops checked their bags, 24 pistols and 48 magazines were found in them, he said.
GRP personnel took the duo to station for further investigation where they were identified as Jamaluddin and Saleem of Bokaro. The duo divulged that they were involved in coal trade but recently they had been called by a gang of arms smugglers to Hazaribagh and given the consignment of arms to deliver to some person in Moradabad. After reaching DDU Junction by some train they were waiting for other train to reach Moradabad, Singh said.
