Donald Trump makes rare trip West for a four-day campaign swing that includes two fundraisers, three rallies and plenty of time to troll Democrats ahead of Nevada caucuses

  • President Trump makes a rare trip West on Tuesday
  • He'll spend four days there, holding three campaign rallies and two fundraisers
  • Will give him chance to raise millions for his re-election campaign
  • And plenty of time to troll Democrats ahead of Nevada caucuses
  • Mike Bloomberg joins Democrats on debate stage Wednesday night for first time as Donald Trump holds campaign rally in Phoenix

Donald Trump heads to the West Coast Tuesday afternoon for a four-day campaign swing that includes two pricey California fundraisers and three rallies, giving the president plenty of opportunities to troll Democrats as they prepare for the Nevada caucuses.

The rare trip West comes as Democrats prepare for the third contest in their presidential nomination process and President Trump increases his campaign activity ahead of the November election.

The president's stops include a fundraiser at the home and golf course of Oracle Chairman Larry Ellison, a meeting with the Olympic organizing committee, addressing a prisoner graduation ceremony, and an event with House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy.

He'll also appear at a trio of campaign rallies in Phoenix, Colorado Springs and Las Vegas.

The trip is expected to net the president and the party millions for its campaign coffers.

And it will put the president in the home states of the Republican Party's two most endangered senators: both Sen. Martha McSally of Arizona and Cory Gardner of Colorado face tough re-election contests this fall.

The president starts the jaunt in California, a state he has targeted for its homelessness policies and slammed for its sanctuary cities.

His first stop on Tuesday is a meeting with organizers of the 2028 Olympic Games. Los Angeles hosts the summer games that year.  He'll then attend a fundraising dinner in Beverly Hills.

On Wednesday, the president will be in Bakersfield to join McCarthy in a conversation with farmers to discuss water supplies. The state has been struggling with drought conditions.

He'll follow that up with the fundraiser hosted by Ellison.

That outing in Rancho Mirage, Calif., will set supporters back $100,000, for golf and a photo with Trump. For $250,000, supporters get golf, a photo, and participation in a roundtable discussion.

The money goes to the joint fundraising account for the president and the Republican Party, according to the invitation obtained by the Desert Sun.

Wednesday evening will provide a split screen moment for the president and the Democrats vying to replace him.

That night, as Mike Bloomberg joins Democrats in Las Vegas for his first time on their primary debate stage, Trump will rally supporters in Phoenix.

Bloomberg made a late entry into the Democratic contest but has focused his campaign on one message - that he is the only contender that can beat Donald Trump.

Trump has hit back at the New York City mayor, mocking him as 'mini Mike' and claiming he'll need a box to stand on when he appears on the debate stage.

For his part, Bloomberg has dropped $300million on television ads thus far with several of them designed to get under the president's skin.

On Thursday, President Trump will speak at the Hope for Prisoners Graduation Ceremony held at the Las Vegas police headquarters. The president has been touting his administration's work with rehabilitating prisoners as one of its biggest accomplishments.

And that night he'll hold a campaign rally in Colorado Springs.

On Friday afternoon, he'l rally the party faithful in Las Vegas. Nevada holds its caucuses on Saturday.

Last September, Nevada Republicans decided not to hold a formal caucus but to simply meet this Saturday to formally bind their delegates to Trump.

The president's last visit to the Los Angeles area was in September. He attended fundraisers but had no public appearances.
