The disruption caused by carriageway surfacing work on the A56 Haslingden Bypass is scheduled to last around another five weeks.

The Highways England works are being carried out on the southbound carriageway and include the replacement of road markings and bridge joints.

Works will take place between 8pm and 5am, Monday to Friday, with some weekend working.

In a statement, Highways England said: “For safety purposes, full closures will be in place on A56 Haslingden Bypass southbound, between the junctions of A680 Rising Bridge roundabout and A682 New Hall Hey Road during the dates and times stated above.

“Associated slip road closures will also be required, and localised signed diversion routes will be in place.”

The statement continued: “Whilst we always aim to work to our schedule, unforeseen circumstances such as severe weather conditions may mean slight changes occur at short notice.

“Every effort will be made to ensure disruption is kept to a minimum.

“However, these works will inevitably generate some noise and disruption and we’d like to apologise in advance for any disturbance.”
