Detectives are continuing to investigate after two men were stabbed to death after a 'raid at a cannabis farm'.

A gang reportedly tried to force their way into a house in Pensnett Road, Brierley Hill, in the early hours of Thursday morning (February 20) and a fight spilled out into the street.

During the brawl, two men suffered fatal stab wounds.

Now, more than 24 hours on the large cordon remains in place as the double murder probe continues.

What happened?

Police received several 999 calls from concerned neighbours was received around 3.30am, reporting a 'group of lads' trying to force entry to a house Pensnett Road, Brierley Hill.

A fight ensued, during which two men were stabbed and a car crashed into parked vehicles.

One of the men was pronounced dead at the scene while the other was driven to hospital, where he later died from stab injuries.

A cannabis factory was later found inside a property in Pensnett Road.

The road was immediately closed for forensic examinations to take place. Residents have been told the road will remain shut 'indefinitely', with police only allowing them to leave their properties on foot.

What have police said?

West Midlands Police has launched a double murder investigation.

Detectives have arrested one man on suspicion of conspiracy to rob and enquiries are under way to identify other men involved in the robbery and subsequent stabbings.

Inspector Nick Barnes, who works for the force's homicide unit, issued an appeal yesterday.

He said: “We believe this property was deliberately targeted by a group of men who knew it was being used to cultivate cannabis.

"Witnesses have reported the property being attacked, windows broken, and men running away carrying plants.

“In the ensuing disorder two men have suffered fatal knife wounds.

“We’re appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time and witnessed the disorder or people or vehicles leaving the scene to get in touch.

“I’d also like to hear from any motorists who were in the area at the time and have dash cam footage as they also may have recorded something important.”

How is the police investigation going?

The man arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to rob is still in police custody.

Police have been carrying out extensive forensic examinations in the area for more than 24 hours now.

A fingertip search was conducted on a grassed area conduct a fingertip search this afternoon.

They’ve also been searching driveways and bins on nearby Wilson Road.

A number of properties have also been searched as part of the on-going investigation, including one in Drummond Road, Lye.

Who are the victims?

Two men killed during the suspected cannabis factory robbery have been named as 19-year-old Khuzaimah Douglas, from Brierley Hill, and 36-year-old Waseem Ramzan from Birmingham.

Both men suffered serious injuries and post mortem examinations are taking place to confirm the precise cause of death.

The single bouquet has been placed on a lamppost just outside of the police cordon.

An accompanying message read: “RIP bro.”
