PUNE: Satara residents will take out a protest march on Sunday to demand toll exemption for Satara-registered vehicles (MH11) at Anewadi toll plaza.
The protest comes days after Union minister for road transport and highways Nitin Gadkari announced toll exemption for MH12 (Pune) and MH14 (Pimpri Chinchwad) registered vehicles at the Khed Shivapur toll plaza along the Pune-Satara highway.

The residents will start the protest march from Powai Naka to Anewadi toll plaza at 10am on Sunday. “We are seeking exemption for MH11 and MH50 (Karad) vehicles at this toll plaza. Besides, our demands include construction of public toilets at 10km distance each as well as completion of the highway,” Satara resident Jay Shedge said.
Pavanjit Mane, who has been spearheading the movement for completion of work along the highway, said, “Leaders from Pune availed exemption at Khed Shivapur due to poor roads and incomplete bridges. We are also facing the same problems. We have communicated with the district collector about completion of work along the highway. They have improved road condition but the work is pending. We will reach out to Union minister Gadkari soon,” he said.
