Tickets are on sale for one of the biggest food and drink related events of the year.

The annual Food and Beverage Expo is set to take place Feb. 29 from 5-10 p.m. at the Medicine Hat Exhibition and Stampede.

“Half of the show is made up for microbreweries, vineyards and distilleries from all over the world and local,” said event organizer Chris Meilleur. “The other half of the show is showcasing local food vendors, local food suppliers and that kind of thing.

“This is a sampling event where people come out and expand their horizons with their pallets.”

One big change from previous years’ events is that the organization has developed an app to help people get around the event. The app is available on IOS and Android phones and it also houses the coupon book that everyone gets with admission.

“This makes things a lot easier for everyone and we save some trees,” said Meilleur. “The app is called ‘AFBE’ and this app will help people find things.

“If someone is looking for alcohol-free, sugar-free, gluten-free, beer – it will highlight the booths and show you where they are.”

Meilleur says there will be 120-130 booths at this year’s event.

The event runs entirely on a first-come, first-served basis.

“You don’t want to come late,” he said.

Tickets to the event are $20 and can be found at South Country Co-op Liquor stores, Moxie’s and the Stampede business office.
