THE LIBERTY TUNNELS ARE REOPEN TONIGHT FOLLOWING A ROLLOVER CRASH THIS AFTERNOON. POLICE SAY THE ACCIDENT HAPPENED AFTER ONE DRIVER TRIED TO MAKE A LANE CHANGE, AND CLIPPED ANOTHER VEHICLE. IT THEN STRUCK A SECOND VEHICLE, CAUSING IT TO ROLL. THREE PEOPLE WERE TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL WITH MINOR INJURIES. A DOG IN ONE OF THE VEHICLES

Three people were taken to a local hospital after a three-vehicle crash happened inside of the Liberty Tunnel on Saturday afternoon, Allegheny County emergency dispatchers confirmed. The crash happened around 2 p.m. Police said a vehicle tried to make a lane change inside the outbound tunnel and hit one vehicle, then swerved into another lane and struck another vehicle, causing it to roll. Three people were in the vehicle that rolled. They were taken to UPMC Mercy with minor injuries. A dog was also in the vehicle, but it was not injured. The people inside the vehicle that was hit first were not injured. The driver of the car that police say caused the crash was not injured, but a passenger suffered a broken nose.
