HYDERABAD: As Shaheen Bagh in Delhi caught the attention of everyone with its anti-CAA, NRC protest, Hyderabad police commissioner Anjani Kumar on Saturday said that Shaheen Bagh-like protest will not be allowed in Hyderabad and it is 'impossible'.
During a press conference, while answering a question about why no case was registered when some people are planning to hold Shaheen Bagh kind of protest, the Commissioner said that "In Hyderabad there is no Shaheen Bagh kind of protest.
Don't bring that, no where. Hyderabad is the best city in India and Hyderabad will further improve. Do not compare Hyderabad with places where all these negative things are happening. We take pride in Hyderabad. Nothing like Shaheen Bagh will be allowed. Impossible’’. He said that till now no one had approached him to hold Shaheen Bagh kind of protest.
He appealed especially to ladies not to obstruct traffic movement. "This is a very important issue. In public places sitting and causing traffic problems is not good. People who are in an emergency will be affected. There is every chance of anti-social elements trying to take advantage of the situation to create problems. That is why protesters can apply permission legally and we will definitely give permission. Our objective is not to deny permission but to facilitate protest through proper procedure,’’ CP said.
However, he clarified that Hyderabad police are not against granting permissions to those protesters, who approach them in proper procedure and their protest does not affect others. "There are some important areas, grounds and public places in the city, where I had never denied permission. If there is a denial, there is a reason. Some persons, who had vested interest had gone to court, which gave guidelines. Court guidelines are supreme and we are putting conditions as per the court guidelines. Political protests and demonstrations are important and law & order is more important,’’Anjani said. On Friday two protests took place at Seven Tombs and Chandrayangutta.
He added by saying that so for more than 200 anti-CAA protests took place in Hyderabad. "It is surprising to everyone that in these kinds of protests, when in other places there has been firing, burning of vehicles, people sitting on dharna for one month. But in Hyderabad nothing is happening because we are concerned about the safety, security and comfort of the common public."
