Amanda Bynes has vowed to contest the guardianship that her mother has been awarded over her in order to clear the way for her to marry her fiancé Paul Michael.

The 33-year-old former actress surprised fans last week when she announced she had become engaged to 28-year-old Paul, who she told fans she had met at an AA meeting several months earlier.

Reports emerged that Amanda’s mother planed to block the marriage - using her rights as conservator over Amanda to achieve this.

Lynn was granted conservatorship over Amanda in 2018 - meaning she has final say over various aspects of the life of the She’s The Man actress - which is due to end in August this year.

Taking to Instagram on Saturday, Amanda addressed fans to give an update on the topic of conservatorship.

“Hey, y’all. I want to thank you guys so much for your support. The fact that you’ve been rooting for me for years means more than you know,” she began.

“Today I want to talk about a controversial topic. My conservatorship case. I have been going to a treatment centre that charges $5,200 a month. There’s no reason why I shouldn’t go to a therapist who takes my insurance for $5,000 dollars less a month,” she continued.

“This is why I’ve asked to see the judge next week regarding this conservatorship issue,” the former actress went on.

“Thank you guys so much for hearing me out. I’m sorry that this is what I’m dealing with and I’m sorry to put my problems on the internet but this is what life has come to,” Amanda said.

“Thank you guys for always supporting me, love you all, peace out,” she added.

Amanda’s mother was granted conservatorship over the actress in 2018 following a number of leal troubles, substance abuse issues, and after the actress revealed she had been diagnosed with bipolar disorder.

TMZ reported last week that Amanda’s family object to her marriage plans - and intended to block the ceremony.

A source told the news outlet: "Amanda will never legally marry her fiancé Paul Michael, because her mother holds the key to marriage and she doesn't approve of her daughter's enagement."

She cannot get married without her mum's consent, and sources for the publication say her "family feels it's not in her best interest to be married" as they haven't met Paul.
