SAN JUAN COUNTY, N.M. (KRQE) – A woman’s body has been found in Arizona and detectives believe it could be the remains of a Farmington woman who went missing last month.

The San Juan County Sheriff’s Office says Sasha Krause was last seen late last month at the Farmington Mennonite Church, where she works. Last night, the Coconino County Sheriff’s Office says the body they found near Flagstaff, matched Krause’s description.

“The information I have right now, this is the sunset crater, Wupatki area. That’s the general vicinity of where it was found,” says Jon Paxton, a Public Information Officer with the Coconino County Sheriff’s Office.

Paxon says they got a call about the body yesterday afternoon. Immediately, they called the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office, who says they will have to wait for an autopsy to confirm if the body is, in fact, Krause’s.

Officials say the 27-year old’s car was still at the church when she went missing, and are calling her disappearance suspicious. The San Juan County Sheriff’s Office says they have gotten little information since she went missing, but their biggest break has been this call from Coconino County.

They believe it might be her because the description matched with what Krause was last seen wearing. However, they want to make it clear that nothing is official until that autopsy, which is planned for Monday.

“If it is her that is found in Arizona, I’m sure they’re going to want to find out who did it. Their primary concern has just been trying to get her back,” says Jayme Harcrow, a Public Information Officer with the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office.

The Sheriff’s Office says Krause’s family has been very helpful during this investigation. Even though they have not confirmed it is her, Krause’s aunt has been vocal on social media, saying she is heartbroken and angry over the loss of her niece.

KRQE News 13 tried to reach out to the family for comment, but have not heard back. The San Juan County Sheriff’s Office says that autopsy report should be done by next week.
