The Team of members from the Provincial Head Office of the South African Police Service in Limpopo have started to roll out the outreach programme on the prevention of stock theft incidents across the Province.

This Team comprised of the Provincial Head of Specific Crime Investigations Unit Colonel Alpheus Mokale, the Provincial Head of Stock Theft Unit Lieutenant Colonel Mafokwane and the representative from the Provincial Communication and Liaison Service, Lieutenant Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, have descended to Basterspad village in the Tinmyne Policing area outside Mokopane to conduct this programme.

The campaign was also attended by the SAPS Mahwelereng Cluster members which was held at the Basterspad Community hall together with various community structures such as Farm Watch Forum, Ga-Kekae Traditional Authority and members of the community in general.

Colonel Mokale addressed the audience on the following topics:

Brand marking of livestock;
Fencing;
Farms and house neighbourhood watch structures;
Effective participation by all members of the community in the community based crime prevention initiatives including the Agricultural Livestock Forums;
Partnership Policing
Buying of stolen livestock and stolen meat
Transportation of the livestock and
Mob-attacks and killings.

Lieutenant Colonel Ledwaba shared additional information with the audience on the prevention of stock theft incidents in the area.

Sergeant Mabusela from Tinmyne SAPS shared rural safety, stock theft crime prevention tips while providing the relevant contact numbers of the Police.
