A Surrey man has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving in relation to a fatal collision in south London.

Quincy Anyiam, 26, has also been charged with two further offences of failing to stop at the scene of a road traffic collision and dangerous driving following an incident that took place in Brixton Hill at around 9.46pm on Wednesday (February 19).

A car sped off from police after officers from Metropolitan Police signalled for it to stop.

It failed to do so, and was then involved in a fatal collision with a pedestrian.

The car again did not stop and was found abandoned nearby.

A woman died at the scene. She has been formally identified as 20-year-old Anisha Vidal-Garner, from Epping.

Anyiam is due to appear in custody at Croydon Magistrates’ Court on Monday (February 24).

A statement from Met Police said: “A man has been charged with three offences in relation to a fatal road traffic collision in Brixton Hill.

“Quincy Anyiam, 26, from Surrey, attended a south London police station on Friday (February 21), and has this evening (February 22) been charged with failing to stop at the scene of a road traffic collision, dangerous driving, and causing death by dangerous driving.”

The Directorate of Professional Standards and Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) have been informed as is routine.

The IOPC has taken the decision to independently investigate the incident.
