    Noted Islamic philosopher and scientist Al-Farabi draws India-Kazakhstan closer

    Kazakh Ambassador to India Yerlan Alimbayev in his welcoming remarks stressed that the anniversary of al-Farabi is included in the calendar of UNESCO's memorable dates and events for 2020 and its celebration in Delhi will give a powerful impetus to the study and understanding of the renowned scientist.

    New Delhi: Cultural and civilizational ties between India and Kazakhstan are hoping to get a fillip on the 1150th anniversary of renowned thinker of the East Abu Nasr al-Farabi.

    On February 17 on the occasion of the 1150th anniversary of al-Farabi the Jawaharlal Nehru University hosted a Round Table I Delhi supported by the Embassy of Kazakhstan in India.

    Kazakh Ambassador to India Yerlan Alimbayev in his welcoming remarks stressed that the anniversary of al-Farabi is included in the calendar of UNESCO's memorable dates and events for 2020 and its celebration in Delhi will give a powerful impetus to the study and understanding of the renowned scientist.

    The round table was attended by the delegation of the Kazakh National University named after al-Farabi with a presentation on the life and works of outstanding philosopher and thinker.

    Academicians and heads of Indian scientific centres and institutes who spoke at the event also noted the significance of the legacy of al-Farabi and emphasized importance of such events for rapprochement of the cultures of the two countries.

    This event was the launch of celebrations dedicated to the 1150th anniversary of al-Farabi in India.

    Couple of years back Al-Farabi Kazakh National University opened the House of Al-Farabi in Delhi. It is noteworthy that the first domestic nanosatellite of Kazakhstan Al-Farabi, which was created by young scientists of Kazakhstan National University, was launched from the Satish Dhawan Space Center in India.

    Al-Farabi from Kazakhstan was a renowned philosopher and jurist who wrote in the fields of politics, philosophy, metaphysics, ethics and logic. He was also a scientist, cosmologist, mathematician and music scholar.
