Vizianagaram: Man kills son over rooster death

The GL Puram police said that the farmer, Addakula Kanta Rao, took his rooster to the nearby pond for giving a bath around 3 pm.

Vizianagaram: A 50-year-old farmer killed his son over the death of a rooster in Boddidi village in GL Puram mandal in Vizianagaram district on Sunday afternoon.

The GL Puram police said that the farmer, Addakula Kanta Rao, took his rooster to the nearby pond for giving a bath around 3 pm.

The rooster died while drowning in the water. Kanta Rao’s 22-year-old son, Majjiswara Rao, who came to the pond, was shocked to see the rooster dead.

Angry over the rooster's death, he got into an argument with his father. During the argument, Kanta Rao became furious and took a knife and stabbed his son in the chest, killing him instantly. The mother, Nirmallamma upon hearing her son’s cry for help rushed to the spot and took him to the nearby community health centre where the doctors declared brought dead. The villagers informed the police, who rushed to the pond and took Kanta Rao into custody. A case has been registered and an investigation is underway.
