The Beatles' Apple Corps Awarded $77 Million In Fake Merchandise Lawsuit

The Beatles' Apple Corps has won a 2018 lawsuit filed against 77 individuals and small businesses that infringed copyright and trademark law by dealing in various Beatles merchandise, including t-shirts, sweaters and other items of clothing.

The case was originally filed at the Florida Southern District Court, and Judge Beth Bloom fined a total of $1 million to each of the businesses involved.

However, Digital Music reports that it is unlikely that Apple Corps will ever come to see any of that money, as none of the defendants appeared in court, and furthermore, were only identified by their online usernames.

Founded by the music legends in 1968, Apple Corps replaced its predecessor, Beatles Ltd., and is not to be confused with Apple Inc., the tech-giant, with whom the company settled a longstanding trademark dispute in 2007.
