HYDERABAD: National Cyber Research, Innovation, and Capacity Centre was inaugurated at Central Detective Training Institute (CDTI) at Ramanthapur on Monday with an aim to face cyber threats.
“There is no doubt that such a centre is the need of the hour as with proliferation of information technology life has become easier. But technology itself is a double-edged weapon and therefore criminals misuse it for ulterior purposes,” said Union minister of state for home affairs, G Kishan Reddy, who inaugurated the centre.
“The world in general and India in particular has witnessed a rise in cyber crimes during the last decade and fighting cyber menace is increasingly becoming a global challenge.
Our dependence on technology coupled with the government’s intention for digitalisation has created a demand for cyberspace,” he added.
He also informed that ministry of home affairs was also working on setting up regional cyber crime coordination centres (R4Cs) in states. It would be in collaboration with the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C) to further strengthen the cyber combat capabilities of the nation, he said.
Talking about CDTI, he said: “It will prove to be central hub for entire south India.”
