CLAIM
Amit Sharma, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Shahdara, Delhi, was injured in the violence that ensued in parts of northeast Delhi. Many social media users are sharing posts and tweets claiming Sharma succumbed to injuries.
Most of the posts are being shared with text in Hindi that closely translates to, "Sad news. After constable Ratan Lal, DCP Amit Sharma, also, is no more."

Sharma's photo is being circulated widely on WhatsApp as well, with the same claim.

TRUTH
The claim that Shahdara DCP Amit Sharma succumed to injuries is false.
Sharma has regained consciousness and is out of danger. He is being treated at a hospital in Delhi. An ANI report carried by TOI on February 25, 2020, said, "Sharma underwent surgery on Monday night and his CT scan was done on Tuesday morning. He is safe and out of danger."

ANI tweeted the same information.

To be doubly sure, Times Fact Check reached out to TOI reporter Somreet Bhattacharya, who in turn, confirmed from a source in Delhi Police that Sharma is now better, but is kept under observation for the next 48 hours in an intensive care unit (ICU).
The claim that Sharma succumbed to injuries is hence false.
