iciHaiti - PNH : First assessment of Operation «Iron Curtain»

The General Directorate of the National Police of Haiti (PNH) has communicated the first assessment of the "Iron Curtain" (Rideau de fer) operation, a device, launched in early February, intended to combat insecurity in the metropolitan area and reassure the population frightened by the upsurge in acts of banditry and kidnapping.
For the first two weeks of February 2020, 1,870 police officers from different specialized units were mobilized on rotation, 1,566 vehicles including 1,345 motorcycles were checked and 221 suspicious vehicles or vehicles with tinted windows were checked and searched at various checkpoints. Over a hundred people were arrested during the first 2 weeks.
