Mauritius President visits Nalanda ruins
Biharsharif: President of Mauritius Prithvirajsing Roopun accompanied by his wife Sanyukta Roopun and other family members on Wednesday visited the ruins of Nalanda University on the first day of his two-day Bihar visit.
The visitors went around the ruins of the ancient university with senior officials and other companions and they were briefed about the remains of the main building, teaching, students, teachers, library and hostels of the varsity.

Surprising everyone, he replied in Hindi when asked about his experience there “Bahut accha lag raha hai.Yahan par pahli baar aaya hoon. Iske baare me suna hai, bahut bada hai ( I am feeling good here. I have come here for the first time but have heard a lot about it. The premise is very huge).”
Roopun added, “It was the place from where knowledge spread to many parts of the world. It is now included in the world heritage site list and it is our responsibility to protect this ancient site of learning more than ever before.”
The visiting President spent little over an our there before departing for Gaya. A tight security arrangement was made for the visiting President in Nalanda, who was received there by Nalanda SP Nilesh Kumar.
