PRAYAGRAJ: The body of a six-year-old girl was found in a field near Sujataganj railway station under Kokhraj police station of Kaushambi district early on Friday. Police suspect that the girl was raped before being killed. They, however, said an autopsy would confirm the same.
Additional SP (Kaushambi) Ashok Kumar said, “Father of the minor girl, a professional snake charmer and resident of Kanpur Dehat, lodged an FIR at Kokhraj police station against one of his close relatives, Rampath Nath, of the same village, accusing him of raping and killing his daughter.”
According to police, the child had bled from her genitals, indicating rape.
“The family had been staying in Prayagraj for the past 10 days. The father accused a relative because he too is missing since Thursday night. A police team has been tasked to crack the case,” the ASP added.
(The victim's identity has not been revealed to protect her privacy as per Supreme Court directives on cases related to sexual assault)
