SECUNDERABAD: Passengers waiting at
Kacheguda railway station on Saturday were in for a rude shock after they found that their trains had been diverted to Secunderabad. South Central Railway (SCR) has diverted more than seven trains running from Kacheguda to different locations across Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka via
Secunderabad till March 7. However, passengers said that they were not informed about the diversions.
“We had reservations on Karnataka Sampark Kranti Express.
It was supposed to arrive at Kacheguda at 8.20am, but after waiting for almost an hour-and-half we approached the railway attendants. Then, they told us that it was diverted through Secunderabad and Kazipet,” said Vishwanath Prasad, who missed his train to Bhopal.
Sashi M, who was scheduled to travel to Anantapur, came to know that Kacheguda-Yesvantpur Express (train no. 16570) had been cancelled only after reaching the station.
Many trains to Karnataka, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and New Delhi were also diverted or partially cancelled due to traffic block in the zones. “Twenty-three trains from the twin states to and from major stations have been cancelled till March 8. Four trains have been partially cancelled till March 7 between Kacheguda and Nandyal as well as Nandyal and Dhone,” said a SCR official.
“Passengers are being intimated through SMS and e-mails if their trains have been affected. Our officials at the station and on social media are also on the watch to ensure that there is no confusion,” said an official from SCR.
