100 tonnes of Nuzvid mango to be exported
Vijayawada: The government is set to export at least 100 tonnes of mangoes cultivated in the Nuzvid region to countries like Dubai, Singapore, South Korea, Maldives and Europe. Some of the mango growers in Nuzvid region were guided by the horticulture department on export standards, methods of cultivation, the right size, ripening methods, and fertilizers accepted by importing countries.

Assistant director at the horticulture department, Nuzvid, Ch Srinivasulu said the integrated pack house is located in Nuzvid and the mangoes to be exported is processed in IPH. After the mangoes are harvested, selected mangoes undergo cold water treatment, vapour heat treatment, hot water treatment or preserved in cold storage at the IPH to meet the standards of the export countries.
“In 2019, around 10 tonnes of mango (Banginapalli variety from Nuzvid) was exported to Europe, South East Asia, and few other countries via air cargo from Hyderabad and Chennai,” Srinivasulu added.
