Two men test negative for coronavirus in Nashik

A 54-year-old city-based man, who was admitted to the isolation ward of the Nashik civil hospital after being recognised as a potential coronavirus (Covid-19) patient, has tested negative.

NASHIK: A 54-year-old city-based man, who was admitted to the isolation ward of the Nashik civil hospital after being recognised as a potential coronavirus (Covid-19) patient, has tested negative.
The throat swab report of the man was sent to the National Insitute of Virology (NIV) in Pune, where it was tested negative. Nikhil Saindane, the additional civil surgeon, said, "The patient was admitted to the hospital on Monday evening.
His throat swab was sent to the NIV in Pune. The reports have arrived and he has been tested negative for coronavirus." However, as a precautionary measure, the man continues to be admitted to the hospital, he said.
Saindane said that two more suspected Covid-19 patientsare in isolation ward. A 27-year-old man, who had recently returned from Italy, was admitted to the hospital on February 29. He is still under observation athough he too has tested negative.
Officials clarify after Sangli letter goes viral
Officials everywhere are appealing to people to not panic and prevent scare-mongering.
A letter, dated February 27, undersigned by the Sangli district health officer and district civil surgeon which instructs the medical officers to keep watch on the individuals who had a travel history to coronavirus-hit countries, has gone viral in the Sangli region. The letter has names of the 7 individuals and their address. After getting to know about the goof-up, Sangli district civil surgeon Sanjay Salunkhe clarified that the said suspects only have a travel history and are asymptomatic.
