Telangana budget: Healthcare gets over Rs 6k crore, govt focus on basti dawakhanas

HYDERABAD: The state government, in its budget for 2020-21, allocated Rs 6,186 crore towards healthcare. It announced that another 232 basti dawakhanas will be coming up in the city. This, in addition to the 118 currently in operation, according to finance minister T Harish Rao.
“The government will establish more basti dawakhanas in areas where SCs, STs, minorities and people from underprivileged backgrounds reside,” the minister said.
There will be two basti dawakhanas for every division according to the minister. Speaking about the KCR kit, Harish Rao said that institutional deliveries had increased by 22%.
“The government has provided 40 dialysis centres, 20 intensive care units in government hospitals. In addition, 305 standardised labour rooms and 200 Ammavodi vehicles have been provided,” the minister said. He also announced the government will soon initiate an action plan on the lines of Kanti Velugu for treatment of ear, nose, throat and dental ailments.
The minster said that the government is doing all it can to prevent the spread of Coronavirus in the state. “As per experts’ opinion, there is no scope for survival of the virus in the summer heat. With summer already here, there is no need for panic. Even then, the government has taken all preventive measures. I request people to not believe in any rumours,” Harish Rao said.
