Dakshina Kannada: Report on passenger in quarantine expected on March 11, says DC

MANGALURU: Dakshina Kannada district administration is expecting report on the passenger who reached the city from Dubai on Sunday with fever and is presently in quarantine at an isolation facility, on Wednesday. The health authorities sent the swab samples to Bengaluru on Tuesday, deputy commissioner Sindhu B Rupesh said. It normally takes two-days for the testing centre to give the report and we are expecting it by Wednesday evening, she said.
Sindhu, in a press release, subsequently requested any air traveller landing at MIA with signs of fever, cough, cold, breathing issues, throat pain to call 104/1077 or 0824-2442590 or contact nearest health centre.
Details of all such patients will be kept confidential, Sindhu said, while urging travellers/people with any of the above symptoms to cooperate with the district administration in interest of maintaining public health and containing its spread.
In a related development, Dr Pushpalatha B S, regional joint director, department of health and family welfare, Mysuru on Tuesday inspected screening facility set up by airport health office at Mangaluru International Airport. The authorities on Tuesday screened 437 international passengers at MIA and 45 persons at New Mangalore Port Trust (NMPT) and there were no signs of Covid-19 in any of these persons, Sindhu stated.
Authorities at MIA from February 1 to date have screened 25,351 passengers and at NMPT 5358 passengers from January 23 to date for Covid-19. Till date, there has been no positive Covid-19 case in the district, DC said. Requesting people not to be gripped by unnecessary panic regarding the disease, she advised them to follow the safety protocols that the health department has been putting out in public domain through various means.
