Jaunpur clash over club membership, FIR lodged

VARANASI: An excise inspector Prashant Singh was assaulted by an assistant professor and his companions in Line Bazar area of Jaunpur district in a dispute over membership of English Club, on Wednesday.
Inspector Line Bazar Dinesh Pandey said that on the complaint of the excise inspector a named FIR against assistant professor of TD College Jai Prakash Singh has been lodged under section 323, 504 and 506 of IPC and the matter is being investigated.
On Wednesday morning, the excise inspector and other members of English Club in Line Bazar area were busy playing badminton. In the meantime, Jai Prakash and his companion also reached there. The people present at the club started calling Jai Prakash and his companion as outsiders and demanded the club management to oust them.
This led to a heated argument between the two groups. After a few minutes Jai Prakash allegedly attacked the excise inspector with his badminton racket. Police said that appropriate action would be taken after investigating the matter.
