Three persons, including a home guard jawan sustained gunshot injuries following exchange of fire between members of two rival groups over a contract for development of a bus stand to be awarded by the Begusarai Municipal Corporation under the Town police station area on Friday.

BEGUSARAI: Three persons, including a home guard jawan sustained gunshot injuries following exchange of fire between members of two rival groups over a contract for development of a bus stand to be awarded by the Begusarai Municipal Corporation under the Town police station area on Friday.
Municipal commissioner Abdul Hamid said the firing started ahead of opening of bids for development of the bus stand.

“Some motorbike-borne criminals stormed the municipal corporation office and soon engaged in physical altercation with a group of people waiting for the bids to be opened. Soon exchange of fire started resulting in gunshot injuries to three persons. Those injured included home guard jawan Ashok Yadav, Murari Singh and Babu Saheb of Ratanpur under the same police outpost,” Begusarai Town police station SHO Amrendra Kumar Jha said, adding that police were taking the help of the CCTV footage to ascertain the identity of the miscreants.
Police sources said that Babu Saheb is the son of one Ram Bharosh Singh, who is involved in several criminal cases. They also said that Ram Bharosh and Murari run rival gangs. All the injured have been admitted to various private hospitals for treatment.
