VIJAYAWADA: With the first case of Covid-19 in Andhra Pradesh being reported in Nellore, the district administration on Friday decided to close schools in the district till March 18 to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

Nellore district collector MV Seshagiri Babu on Friday said they have directed managements of cinema halls in Nellore city to remain shut until further notice.

The Nellore Bar Association will not hold sessions from March 16 to 20 in Nellore city. The district administration has decided to close swimming pools in the city till the situation improves.
Seshagiri Babu said several teams in the city sieved the streets for persons showing symptoms of coronavirus in the area from which the first positive case was reported. They have till now completed survey of around 21,000 houses. He said there should be focus on people who visited other nations and returned to the district. They should be kept under isolation for 14 days and vigil should be kept on their family members too.
