Coronavirus scare: JNU, Jamia Millia Islamia, Ambedkar University Delhi also close their campuses

A day after Delhi University suspended its classes, Jawaharlal Nehru University, Ambedkar University Delhi (AUD) and Jamia Millia Islamia on Friday also closed their campuses till March 31 and have issued advisories. As preventive measure, IIT-Delhi has also decided to shut its hostels from March 15.

NEW DELHI: A day after Delhi University suspended its classes, Jawaharlal Nehru University, Ambedkar University Delhi (AUD) and Jamia Millia Islamia on Friday also closed their campuses till March 31 and have issued advisories. As preventive measure, IIT-Delhi has also decided to shut its hostels from March 15.

While Jamia Millia Islamia informed that it was awaiting response from the UGC and the Union human resource ministry, the institute announced on Friday that the classes were suspended and teachers should make study material available to students as the examinations would be conducted as per schedule.
"The seminars/conferences have been postponed with immediate effect and stay in the guesthouse to be restricted till March 31," the university said.
Speaking to TOI , AUD registrar Nitin Malik said, "The university has decided to shut classes on three campuses till March 31."
Meanwhile, IIT Delhi's dean academics and dean student affairs, informed that while the institute has suspended all the academic, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities, it was also asking students pursuing BTech, dual degree, MSc, DIIT, MTech, MDes, and MBA and the first year PhD students to leave the hostel by March 15. "Further instructions on the start of the academic activity, and when the students have to report back will be communicated through email and the institute's website."
