Coronavirus in Karnataka: Kalaburagi man’s family likely to get Rs 4 lakh compensation

BENGALURU: The family of 76-year-old man from Kalaburagi, the first Covid-19 fatality in India, is likely to get Rs 4 lakh compensation from the government.

Karnataka state government received a communication from the ministry of home affairs, disaster management division on Saturday.

It said, "The central government, keeping in view the spread of Covid-19 virus in India and the declaration of Covid-19 as pandemic by World Health Organization, has decided to treat it as a disaster for the purpose of providing assistance under SDRF."
