After St. Paddy's events canceled due to coronavirus concerns, Manchester caterer donates food to shelter

A Manchester catering company has donated hundreds of pounds of food it stocked for now-canceled St. Patrick’s Day celebrations to a local homeless shelter and soup kitchen.Celebrations Catering donated 400 pounds of corned beef to New Horizons. It says companies canceled St. Patrick's Day events out of concerns over the coronavirus.“It felt really, really nice to see some good come from this and to say, ‘OK, we’re all going to hurt through this, but what can we do, let’s think about the ways we can work together, let’s think about the ways we can see a little bit of light in all of this,’” said Amy Strike of Celebrations Catering. “Donations like that of unprepared food that’s not being used can go a long way for us in both our budget and to those that we work with,” said Stephanie Savard, New Horizons chief operating officer.The companies working with Celebrations Catering opted to receive a credit for a future event and donate the food, rather than receive a full refund.
