JnU student arrested for assaulting fellow student
Police today arrested a student of Jagannath University (JnU) for physically assaulting a female student on campus.
The arrestee, Rifat-e-Munim, is a student of microbiology department. Police arrested him from the campus in connection with a case filed against him in this connection, Md Atoar Hossain, sub-inspector of Kotwali Police Station, told The Daily Star.
The victim, also a student of the university, filed a case with the police station under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act this afternoon, bringing allegations of physical assault against Rifat.
In the case statement, the victim stated that Rifat assaulted the victim physically on the campus this morning.
The arrestee will be produced before the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court in Dhaka tomorrow, the SI further said.
The victim also submitted a written complaint to the university authorities against Rifat.
Contacted, JnU Proctor Mostofa Kamal said, "We will take steps in this regard after investigation."
