4 new suspect corona patients in Chandrapur
Chandrapur: Four more suspected coronavirus patients were detected in the district, even as district administration intensified preventive measures. District collector Dr Kunal Khemnar on Sunday ordered closing of all coaching classes, after some continued to function on Sunday despite closure orders for schools and colleges.
Collector Dr Khemnar said so far 10 citizens who have returned from abroad and tourists have been checked in the district for Covid-19 infection, and all of them were diagnosed negative.
Four new patients with coronavirus symptoms arrived at Chandrapur GMCH late on Saturday night. He said three belong to Sindewahi tehsil, while one is from Warora.
Sources said an elderly person from Sindewahi tehsil had returned from pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia on March 13. He developed symptoms, followed soon by his wife and son, and they rushed to GMCH. Fourth suspect belongs to Wadgaon. He had reportedly returned from United Arab Emirates recently. All of them have been kept in isolation ward and their samples sent to Nagpur for tests.
Meanwhile, the collector invoked Epidemic Disease Act-1897 and ordered closure of all shopping malls, stores, swimming pools, auditoriums, theatres, gyms, pan kiosks, kharra centres etc. However, essential services like medical stores have been spared. All kinds of gathering of crowd have been banned. Some exceptions like marriages, weekly markets will be permitted on certain conditions.
The foreign tourists visiting Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve are being screened through thermal screening. Details like name, country, contact number, place of stay and tour plan, along with details of people coming in their contact is being taken from foreign tourists, the collector said.
