Andhra Pradesh: Debt-ridden farmer commits suicide in Chittoor district

In a tragic incident, a debt-ridden farmer in his early 50s committed suicide by consuming pesticides at Eguvakalladu village in Palamaner mandal of Chittoor district in the late hours on Sunday.

TIRUPATI: In a tragic incident, a debt-ridden farmer in his early 50s committed suicide by consuming pesticides at Eguvakalladu village in Palamaner mandal of Chittoor district in the late hours on Sunday.
According to local police, the deceased was identified as Srinivasulu Reddy. ''Locals who noticed Srinivasulu Reddy unconscious near his farmland informed us about the incident on Monday morning. By the time we reached there, the farmer was already dead'', said the police officials.

The body of the deceased was sent to the Palamaner government hospital for postmortem and police registered a case.
One of the relatives of the deceased identified as Ramachandra Reddy told the police that Srinivasulu Reddy borrowed loans from private persons and could not repay. As he was being pressurized by moneylenders for the last few days, Srinivasulu Reddy who could not tolerate the pressure took to the extreme step of committing suicide by consuming pesticides.
The deceased is survived by a wife, two daughters and a son.
