TRICHY: The Pudukkottai district administration has suspended all bull-taming events -- jallikattu, vadamadu and manjuvirattu -- till March 31 to prevent spread of Covid-19.
Pudukkottai district organises the maximum number of jallikattu events in Tamil Nadu every year. More than five jallikattu events were happening in the district every weekend since the Pongal festival in mid-January.
District collector P Uma Maheswari said the decision had been taken after the state government on Monday asked people to refrain from organising any event that would witness mass gathering.
