HYDERABAD: Former
Nizmababad MP and daughter of Telangana CM K Chandrasekhar Rao,
Kalvakuntla Kavitha is likely to be nominated to the
Telangana legislative council as an MLC from Nizamabad local authority constituency. TRS chief
K Chandrasekhar Rao has reportedly taken this decision on Tuesday and her candidatature is expected to be announced officially on Wednesday.
The Election Commission of India (ECI) has already issued notification for the bye-election to fill up MLC seat from Nizamabad following disqualification of sitting MLC
Bhoopathi Reddy last year.
While notification for the election was issued on March 12, last date for filing nominations is March 19 and last date for withdrawal is March 23.
Kavitha was an MP from Nizamabad Lok Sabha between 2014 and 2019. She was defeated by BJP candidate
Arvind Dharmapuri in 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
The party earlier considered her name for Rajya Sabha membership, but due to various reason especially to accommodate
KR Suresh Reddy in the upper house from Nizamabad, here name is being considered for MLC seat. The pink party considered Nizamabad TRS leader Mujeeb for MLC
